BAP-SBP executive director to resign on May

BAP-SAMAHANG Basketbol ng Pilipinas (BAP-SBP) executive director Patrick Gregorio will resign from his post on May 31.

Gregorio confirmed the surprising move in a press statement after being under fire of late due to Harbour Centre-RP’s unsuccessful bid in the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (Seaba) Club Championship in Jakarta last week.

According to Gregorio, he has done everything that he could in the past year when he was at the helm of the basketball national governing body. “Federation work is all about advocacy and commitment. I have accomplished what was required of me in the span of time given to me,” commented Gregorio.

In spite of his resignation, Gregorio stood firm that the country’s basketball program will continue to flourish with the formation of national teams, from the youth to the elite squad, the National Basketball Training Center, the national youth basketball championships of the Philippine Olympic Festival, the Philippine Collegiate Championship and the Liga Pilipinas.

“I have done my job. And maybe I have done it well,” said Gregorio in his statement. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
