The Sta. Lucia Realtors pulled the Welcoat Dragons back to earth, banking on a tenacious defense to post a 111-97 victory last night in the PBA Fiesta Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Sta. Lucia snapped a two-game slide to improve to 4-2 (win-loss) and at the same time stopped Welcoat's two-game win streak.

?We were not playing real defense, we were not moving our feet and we were bailing out our opponents,? Sta. Lucia?s coach Boyet Fernandez told pba.ph, referring to the squad's last two outings.

The Realtors put premium on defense in this game, holding the two imports of Welcoat scoreless in the first quarter.

Before that loss, Welcoat scored two huge wins against sister-teams Purefoods and Magnolia.

Sta. Lucia import Wesley Wilson led all scorers with 24 points to go with 9 rebounds, while Ryan Reyes added 19 and six rebounds.

Dennis Daa had a career-high 11 points, while Kelly Williams chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Dragons, who came no closer than 14 points the rest of the way, were led by Jay-R Reyes with 23 points.

Averaging 27.5 point a game, Marquise Gainous scored just 14 points. /Correspondent Calvin D. Cordova
