Game today, May 26, 2008:
(Cebu Coliseum)
1:30 p.m. - SCSIT vs. SWU
After a faulty start, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars are completely back in business as they secured their second straight win with an 84-78 victory over the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras on Sunday in the 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Summer Basketball Tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Jaguars caught up with the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors at the number one spot as both sport 2-1 (win-loss) records.
USJ-R started the tournament with a 83-73 loss to USC but got its game going in its next outings.
USJ-R's first win was against the Don Bosco College (DBC) Greywolves, 98-79, last May 19.
Peppery guard Armand Ponce scattered 12 points to lead the Jaguars in a game they dominated from start to finish.
The Cobras actually had five players in double figures but still came up short for their second loss in three games.
Eric Zanoria led the way for the Cobras with 16 points, Clifford Maguate and Elliud Poligrates donated 13 each, Alfred Belande chipped 11 and Aard Django added 10.
The Cobras look to bounce back from that loss when they play the winless Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers in Monday?s lone game at the same venue.
The Skyblazers have yet to win in their first three games.
