THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos (USC) Warriors and the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars created a three-way tie at the top after posting separate wins last Friday in the 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Summer Basketball Tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Warriors nailed an 85-79 win over the Don Bosco College (DBC) Greywolves, while the Jaguars scored a huge 110-92 win over the erstwhile unbeaten and former solo leader Asian College of Technology (Act) Cyber Knights.

The Warriors, the Jaguars and the Cyber Knights now have identical 3-1 (win-loss) slates but that will be broken today as the elimination round winds up with three games at same venue.

The Jaguars face the Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers in the first game, while the Cyber Knights and the Warriors clash in the third game.

The second game will feature the encounter between the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras and the Greywolves.,

The Skyblazers are still winless in four games, while the Greywolves have only one win to show against three losses.

Sam Jordan Hermosa led the Warriors with 16 points and six other USC players scored at least seven points in a show of balanced offense.

Luther Justiniani, on the other hand, showed the way for the Jaguars with 22 markers and had eight teammates chipping in at least eight markers in UJSR's own display of superb team effort. Correspondent Calvin D. Cordova
