Games today:
(Cuneta Astrodome)
4:30 p.m.- Magnolia vs. Coca-Cola
6:50 p.m.- Ginebra vs. Sta. Lucia
The Sta. Lucia Realtors play their third game in five days as they take on the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings today at the start of the best-of-three quarterfinal round of the PBA Fiesta Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Before the 6:50 p.m. Sta. Lucia-Ginebra tiff, the Magnolia Beverage Masters and the Coca-Cola Tigers face each other first at 4:30 p.m. for the start of their own race-to-two series.
Sta. Lucia survived two do-or-die games in the wildcard round to advance to the quarters, keeping their bid for back-to-back titles alive.
The Realtors first dispatched the Alaska Aces, 99-86, before nailing a 111-96 win over the Talk N Text Phone Pals last Friday.
Joseph Yeo had a remarkable performance in those two sudden-death matches where he combined for 56 points, including a career-high 29-point explosion against the Pals.
The Realtors, however, are facing the dilemma of playing without an import after Lee Benson said that he would opt out of his contract after last Friday's game.
With or without Benson, the Realtors are expected to have their hands full against the streaking Kings.
Behind import Chris Alexander, Jayjay Helterbrand and Mark Caguioa, the Kings have won their last six games and one of their victims in that run were the Realtors, whom they beat, 112-104.
Unlike the banged-up Realtors, Ginebra, Coke and Magnolia will be fresh going into today's games after they advanced to the quarters outright.
The Tigers will be playing with new import in ex-Harlem Globetrotter Brandon Dean, who replaced Donald Copeland.
Copeland went home to attend a custody hearing in the United States.
Listed at 6-foot-2, Dean was measured at a shade under six feet last Friday.
Dean will be the Tigers' fourth small import after Calvin Cage, George Gervin Jr. and Copeland. He will team up with Coke's 6-foot-9 import Jason Dixon. CORRESPONDENT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
