THE MUNICIPALITY of Sogod had to go through the proverbial eye of the needle before escaping with an 89-87 win over Danao City to grab this year's title of the 3rd Congressman Red Durano Cup hoopfest at the Danao Civic Center.
Most Valuable Player (MVP) Welbert Sayson contributed 23 points while Elde Trangia and Mara Enrique wound up with 14 each for the champion team.
Carmen, on the other hand, secured the third place trophy by beating Poro, 100-69.
Junmar Fajardo of the University of Cebu (UC) had 15 points while Ronnie Ruiz added 14 for Carmen.
Sogod received a whopping cash prize of P50,000, Danao City got P30,000 while Carmen took home P20,000. Poro will be going home with P10,000.
