AS FAR AS Greg Slaughter is concerned, he is not playing for the M. Lhuillier -Cebu Ninos in the upcoming second conference of the Liga Pilipinas, which is set to kick off on Jan. 14 in General Santos City.
This he vehemently emphasized after reports came out that he has already been signed by the Ninos, the champions of the first ever Liga Pilipinas title last year, to bolster their now all-Cebuano lineup.
“No, I'm not playing as far as I know. I don't know where that report came from,” said Slaughter in an interview yesterday.
Slaughter has practiced with the Ninos on numerous occasions but according to the man-mountain, the last time he joined the squad was in October of last year. He also said he has not committed to the M. Lhuillier team.
He added that he already has a lot on his plate at the moment, with his responsibilities to the University of the Visayas (UV), which will be playing in the upcoming Cesafi Partner's Cup, and the RP team, under Serbian coach Rajko Toroman.
Ninos head coach and Cebu City Councilor Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba also said that Slaughter's participation in the squad is not yet sure, pending Slaughter's schedule.
UV head coach Elmer “Boy” Cabahug was also caught by surprise when asked about his star center's supposed commitment to M. Lhuillier.
“Wala jud ko kabalo ana. Greg never talked to me about that,” said Cabahug. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
