RENOWNED ring tactician Nonito Donaire Sr., will be the head trainer of the newly-opened Kennel Boxing Gym in San Leandro, California.
The gym, which will have its grand opening on January 10, “was created to utilize the tremendous talent, knowledge and experience of Coach Nonito Donaire Sr., in the sport of boxing,” according to the company website.
The Jugarap brothers (Arvin, Brian and Diovanne), according to Donaire, have invested on the gym which he describes as world class.
“The gym’s main focus is to create a championship atmosphere within the professional and amateur boxing world. Other goals include creating a positive learning environment in which, not only professional and amateur boxers can avail, but also those who decide to join for health, fitness and educational purposes only.”
"The Kennel Boxing Gym is committed to maximizing each member’s potential by utilizing proper training, diet, and activities. By keeping a positive environment, the Kennel Boxing Gym hopes to be able to create an experience that can be carried, not only in the community, but in life.”
Donaire informed that the Kennel Boxing Gym will also serve as a possible sister gym for a Cebu-based group which has also expressed interest in tapping him as chief trainer in what will also be a world-class gym to be built within the city.
“After I shall have developed enough talents from the Visayas and Mindanao area, the plan is to bring the fighters to the US, and the Kennel Boxing Gym will serve as our home gym there,” said the highly-respected trainer.
Sportsman Jonathan Guardo, head of the Uniherb group, has expressed belief that Donaire will be able to carry out his plans of producing top fighters, given the vast talent and potentials of young kids in the area.
