TEAM ZUBROS, the Vaqueros Bros and the Basta NegOr squads stole the show in the 2nd Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri Cup National Rodeo Finals after they each won an event in the competition held at the Mandaue Rodeo Center at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

Zubros, which is short for Zubiri Brothers, won the load carrying event in the non-cattle division as they finished the task in an astounding three minutes, 20.84 seconds, which narrowly beat out the Kalasungay Wranglers. The latter clocked in with a time of 3:21.97. LGU Libona Rodeo Team finished in third place with a time of 3:26.633.

Meanwhile, in the lassoing on foot event in the cattle division, the Vaqueros Brothers proved that they are without peer in the event as they took home the title after catching up with the cattle and tying him up in an incredible time of 55.89 seconds, five full seconds clear of their closest pursuers.

The Zubros finished in second after they clocked in at 1:00.90 while the Wagling Ranch placed third with a time of 1:01.48. The Team Roping event saw the Basta NegOr squad reign supreme as they won with a time of two minutes and 27.46 seconds. Wagling finished in second with a time of 2:31.87.

The champions in the respective events bagged P15,000 each. The rest of the events were still being competed in as of press time. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
