MANILA, Philippines - After crashing the roster of three varsity leagues, the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (Abap) is now pushing for the inclusion of boxing in the UAAP sports calendar.

?We?re offering amateur boxing as a possible demo sport in the UAAP,? said Abap executive director Ed Picson.

Boxing will be a demonstration sport in the NCAA starting this season as well as in the NCAA South and in the Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa).

UAAP president Anton Montinola of host Far Eastern University said for an event to be included as a demonstration sport, at least half of its eight member-schools must be able to field teams.
