Baycats, Hawks rip Naascu opponents

MANILA, Philippines ? San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite outplayed STI, 99-56, Saturday and moved within two games of sweeping the eliminations of the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (Naascu) men?s basketball tournament at the UM Gym.

The Baycats restricted the Olympians to just nine points in the second quarter while unloading 20 to virtually secure their ninth straight win with a 43-23 spread at halftime.

University of Manila grabbed second place with an 8-1 card by humbling Informatics, 77-59, while AMA Computer, with Dennis Maravilla firing 29 points, trounced New Era, 86-77.

The UM Hawks pinned a second straight loss on the Icons who rocked the season with a blistering 7-0 start before bowing to STI.

The AMA Titans improved their chances of making the next round with a 5-5 record, while the Hunters slumped to 2-5.
