GINGOOG, Misamis Oriental ? Ronjay Buenafe knocked in a layup with 1.6 seconds left last night as Burger King nipped Rain or Shine, 91-89, and left the Elasto Painters winless in the KFC-PBA Philippine Cup eliminations.
Buenafe was fouled by Jay-R Reyes on the game-winning play, but missed the bonus charity which really didn?t matter as the Whoppers rose to a level 2-2 slate while dealing a third straight loss on Rain or Shine.
Buenafe finished with 22 points and three more Whoppers scored in twin digits in the road game held at the Arturo Lugod gym here and presented by Phoenix Fuel.
Mike Yee chipped in with 14 points and Richard Yee 13 for the Whoppers, who pounded out the win despite playing their second game without suspended team leader Wynne Arboleda and getting just three points from Gary David.
Meanwhile, all four unbeaten teams take the Araneta Coliseum floor today with Alaska and Barangay Ginebra disputing the solo lead and Sta. Lucia and Talk ?N Text trying to stay perfect.
The Gin Kings and the Aces scored easy victories Friday night at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay but their 4 o?clock clash this afternoon is expected to be tight.
Talk ?N Text and Sta. Lucia meet at 6:30 p.m., both looking to improve to 3-0 and take solo second.
