UAAP vs. NCAA five in All-Star showcase

THE VITAL COGS OF UAAP CHAMPION Ateneo and NCAA titlist San Sebastian headline the rosters in the UAAP-NCAA Bantay-Bata 163 All-Star showcase Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Blue Eagle Rabeh Al-Hussaini, the Finals MVP, will spearhead the UAAP squad along with Season 72 MVP Dylan Ababou of University of Santo Tomas.

The University selection also includes Ateneo standouts Eric Salamat, Jai Reyes, Ryan Buenafe and Nico Salva, who replaced Nonoy Baclao in the squad, which will be mentored by Ateneo coach Norman Black.

San Sebastian skipper Jimbo Aquino, the NCAA Finals MVP, joins forces with Season 85 MVP John Wilson of Jose Rizal.

The other Stags in the lineup are mythical five members Calvin Abueva, Ian Sangalang, Pamboy Raymundo, Ronald Pascual, Gilbert Bulawan and Dave Najorda.

San Beda?s Jake Pascual, Letran?s RJ Jazul, Arellano?s Gio Ciriacruz, Mark Acosta of Mapua, Gelo Montecastro of St. Benilde, Perpetual Help?s Raffy Ynion and Argel Mendoza of Emilio Aguinaldo College complete the NCAA roster.

The other UAAP All-Stars are Far Eastern U stalwarts Aldrech Ramos, JR Cawaling, RR Garcia and Reil Cervantes, University of the Philippines? Woody Co and Alvin Padilla, Adamson?s Jan Colina and Kokoy Hermosisima of National U.

Among the side events in the All-Star festivities are the slam dunk competition, the three-point shootout and the father-and-son two-ball competition.

Entries in the two-ball event include Leo and Bacon Austria, Ato and Mark Agustin, Koy and Jonathan Banal, Joel and Ael Banal and Chot and Ice Reyes.

Chris Camus of UST will strut his stuff in the dunk contest, along with Kenneth Acibar of UE, Adamson?s John Repique, Russel Escoto of FEU, EAC?s Russel Yaya, Derrick Lopez of JRU, SSC?s Ronald Pascual and San Beda?s Sudan Daniel.
