AFTER CAPPING AN ILLUSTRIOUS four-decade career with another championship, retired coach Ato Badolato will receive a Lifetime Achievement award in the 2009 Collegiate Basketball Dinner-Awards Party presented by Smart Sports and the UAAP-NCAA Press Corps tomorrow.
Badolato steered the San Beda Red Cubs to their 17th overall championship against the Letran Squires in this season?s NCAA juniors finals.
He will share the spotlight with Coach of the Year winners Norman Black of Ateneo and San Sebastian?s Ato Agustin in the annual event set at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Kamayan Edsa in Greenhills.
Rabeh Al-Hussaini of back-to-back UAAP champion Ateneo and Jimbo Aquino of NCAA titlist San Sebastian lead the Collegiate Mythical Team which also includes University of Santo Tomas? Dylan Ababou, Jose Rizal?s John Wilson and San Beda?s Sudan Daniel.
Other awardees are Ateneo?s Jai Reyes (Super Senior) and Nonoy Baclao (Mr. Intangible), University of the East?s Paul Lee (Court General) and Elmer Espiritu (Defensive Player of the Year), San Sebastian?s Calvin Abueva (Energy Player), Letran?s RJ Jazul (Super Senior) and Far Eastern University?s Aldrech Ramos (Sudden Impact).
Long-time UAAP board member and UE athletic director Brenn Perez and JRU cager Jayson Nocom will receive posthumous citations for their accomplishments in the country?s premier collegiate varsity leagues.
The annual event is also supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Accel, FilOil-Flying V and San Miguel Corporation.
