DEFENDING WOMEN?S provincial cluster champions Catmon continued to show their lethal form as they zoomed off to their second win in as many games following their straight-sets trampling of Compostela in the ongoing quarterfinal round of the 2009 Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball (GUV) Cup yesterday at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) in Mandaue City.

Catmon, which got the title last year at the expense of Liloan, clobbered their opponents via a 25-13, 25-12 win, a fitting follow-up to their 25-13, 25-21 win over Minglanilla in the opening day of the quarters last Saturday.

Not to be outdone, Liloan also captured a win as they eked past Sogod in a three-set thriller, 25-15, 19-25, 25-17, to also up their record to 2-0 (win-loss).

In other games, Minglanilla bounced back with a default victory over Daanbantayan while Sta. Fe beat Badian, 28-26, 25-17. Sogod also edged Tuburan in yet another pulse-pounding three-setter, 24-26, 25-13, 25-13.

On the men?s side, Catmon overcame Sta. Fe, 25-23, 27-25 while Moalboal got past Daanbantayan, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19.
