MANILA, Philippines--Rizal Technological University and Globe Asiatique will try to make the most of their twice-to-beat edge over their respective rivals Sunday as they gun for final slots in the Softball Pilipinas-Fall season at the Rosario Sports Complex.
The RTU batters, the only unbeaten squad after the double-round elimination, goes up against the No. 4-ranked team Forward Taguig at 8:30 a.m.
The GA sluggers will battle Phiten-PAF in the other Final Four at 11:30 a.m.
If RTU and GA fail in their initial attempts to reach the final, the deciding Game 2 will be held immediately after their respective games.
Taguig was in contention to make the top two after downing Phiten-Philippine Air Force last Sunday, 7-5. But Taguig later dropped a 2-1 loss to the Realtors, who clinched the No. 2 slot due to the better run-differential quotient that broke the three-way tie for second among GA, Taguig and Phiten-PAF.
The Final Four winners will dispute the crown of this maiden season of the first semi-pro softball league in a best-of-three series starting on Feb. 6.
With RP team top pitcher Leo Barredo at the helm, RTU dominated the eliminations, even beating its national open conqueror Phiten-PAF twice in the eliminations.
