MANILA, Philippines -- San Sebastian College and College of St. Benilde capped their unbeaten runs with a championship in the NCAA beach volleyball tournament.

The San Sebastian Lady Stags pair of Lou Ann Latigay and Margarita Pepito banked on their pin-point kills to bag the women’s crown, while the CSB Blazers tandem of Von Mabazza and Eddie Madcon asserted their might in the men’s Finals recently at the La Salle Greenhills sand courts.

Latigay, named most valuable player, and Pepito easily crushed the St. Benilde duo of Hazel Cay and Girly Quemada, 21-10, 21-13, to complete a seven-game title sweep.

Mentor Roger Gorayeb won the Coach of the Year award after steering the Lady Stags back to the crown. They posted back-to-back championships in 2002 and 2003.

The Blazers’ MVP Mabazza and Madcon picked up their eighth straight victory by disposing of Eden Canlas and Warren Pirante of Letran College, 21-19, 21-19. Parley Tupaz earned the top coaching honors as the Blazers nailed their fifth men’s championship in seven seasons.

In high school action, Letran’s Erickson Ramos and Jomari Badiong whipped University of Perpetual Help’s Nico Melencio and Sandy Montero, 21-10, 21-11, to grab the junior title.

The Letran Squires also swept the individual citations with Ramos taking the MVP plum and Brian Esquibel the Best Coach award. Jasmine W. Payo
