MANILA, Philippines--The search for future triathlon champions begins tomorrow with the staging of the Supertrikids Multisport Festival at the Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa.

Triathlon and aquathlon races for children 15 years and younger will be held at the Narra Park and at the Olympic-sized pool of De La Salle Zobel.

"For our triathletes to become world-class at a faster clip, we should start them young," said Triathlon Association of the Philippines (Trap) president Tom Carrasco.

There will be five age categories for both events which will be contested in varying distances.

A sprint triathlon for parents and beginners serves as side event.

Sen. Pia Cayetano is one of the prime movers of festival organized by Trap and the Ayala Alabang Village Assocation.

Age groups and event distances: Under-7 (50m swim-500m bike-100m run; 50m swim-100m run), 7-8 (50m swim-1km bike-200m run; 100m swim-200m run), 9-10 (100m swim-2k bike-400m; 200m swim-400m run), 11-12 (200m swim-4K bike-1k run; 300m swim-1.5k run); and 13-15 (300m swim-8km bike-2km run; 400m swim-2K run).
