MANILA, Philippines--A total of 46 local junior golfers will test their mettle against the region's best when the 29th Asia Pacific Junior Golf Championship is held May 5-9 at the Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Trece Martirez, Cavite.
India will led the roster of foreign entries with 16 bets while powerhouses Chinese-Taipei, Thailand and Hong Kong will field 10 each in the tournament for golfers aged 17 years and under.
Completing the 11-nation field is Malaysia with seven bets, Korea with six, Singapore (4), Indonesia (3), Guam (3) and Myanmar (3).
There will be individual and team championships for both the boys' and girls' division, according to the organizing Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines headed by Beng De La Paz.
Players in the boys' division will be broken down into Class A (15-17 years old) with handicaps of 12 or lower; Class B (13-14) handicap 16 or lower; Class C (11-12) handicap 24 or lower and Class D (10-under) handicap 30 or lower.
The girls' division will have competition in Class A (handicap 18 or lower), Class B (20 or lower), Class C (30 or lower) and Class D (36 or lower).
