Juniors semis

MANILA, Philippines—Reigning NCAA juniors champion San Sebastian College-Recoletos banked on a splendid all-around performance from Almond Vosotros to pummel San Beda College, 85-57, Tuesday and forge a semifinal duel with Letran College in the 4th Nike Summer League at the Far Eastern University gym.

Groomed to fill the void left by hotshot Ryan Buenafe, who will play college ball for Ateneo de Manila University, Vosotros delivered 23 points on top of 14 rebounds, six assists and five steals.

The Baby Stags, who also drew 12 points from veteran Arvie Bringas, stretched a 43-30 halftime lead to a 21-point buffer at 65-44 heading into the final period.

Letran, which lost to a Buenafe-led San Sebastian squad in last year’s NCAA finals, held off De La Salle-Zobel, 85-81, with Kevin Alas and Shejroi Sumang combining for 49 points.

Ateneo, with 13 players scoring at least two points, registered a trouble-free 71-63 victory over University of Perpetual Help Dalta System.

Standing in the way of the Baby Eagles’ entry to the finals is La Salle Green Hills, which came from behind to oust SBC-Alabang, 66-59.

Mark Franco paced LSGH with 22 points while teammate Mikee Reyes, who kept his team in the game with 10 first-quarter points, finished with 17.
