MANILA, Philippines—The Washington Wizards’ Gilbert Arenas, one of the best point guards in the National Basketball Association, hits town on July 5 for the Adidas Agent Zero Tour 2008, which features the launch of his new signatures shoes, cage clinics, mall tours and community events.
The flamboyant Arenas is known as Agent Zero for wearing No. 0 on his jersey, a tribute to his critics in high school who said he would play zero minutes in college.
He is in his seventh NBA season after he was drafted in the second round by Golden State in 2001 from the University of Arizona.
The NBA’s Most Improved Player and MVP of the Rookies-Sophomores game during the All-Star Weekend in 2003 will be here for a four-day visit in line with Adidas’ thrust to promote brotherhood and the core values of basketball and at the same time endorse the Gil II Zero collection, including the Gil Zero shoes and clothing apparel.
On July 6, Arenas, who has a career-high of 60 points in the NBA, is scheduled to visit Adidas concept stores, including the Mall of Asia branch in Pasay City at 11 a.m., the Rockwell branch in Makati City at 2 p.m., and the TriNoma branch in Quezon City at 5 p.m. The Agent Zero Tour statement show will follow at 6 p.m. at the TriNoma Activity Center.
During his visit, Arenas, 26, will showcase the many facets of his beliefs with eight Gil Zero shoes, including Black President, Vote for Gilbert, Channel Zero, NBA Live 2008, Hibachi, Customize, I Love LA and Agent Zero. These shoes correspond to the eight core values of basketball, namely, confidence, commitment, passion, respect, inspire, sacrifice, trust and innovation. For details, log on to www.giltv.com.
