Barako target semifinal slot vs Phone Pals

GAMES FRIDAY (Araneta Coliseum)
4:50 p.m.—Ginebra vs Welcoat
7:20 p.m.—Red Bull vs TNT

MANILA, Philippines—Red Bull tries to put an end to all the wait when the Barako, already considered as overachievers in the Smart PBA Fiesta Cup, clash with Talk ‘N Text on Friday for the second outright semifinal berth at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

With a 10-6 card, Adam Parada and the Barako are expected to exhaust the first of two chances they have in joining idle elimination round topnotcher Air21 into the Final Four when they collide with the Phone Pals at 7:20 p.m.

In the first game at 4:50 p.m., crowd-darling Barangay Ginebra tries to keep its wafer-thin chances of advancing to the semifinals alive when the Gin Kings, on a four-game roll, battle ousted Welcoat.

The Gin Kings are at an even 8-8 card and have two games to go. A sweep will not guarantee them of a playoff for the second semifinal slot, but at least assure them of a quarterfinal stint.

Meanwhile, Talk ‘N Text import Terrence Leather appeared before PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios on Thursday to explain his outburst which caused his ejection in their last game. Fines and penalties, if any, will be announced Friday. Musong R. Castillo
