TAGUIG, Philippines--Quezon survived a harrowing Lipa comeback in the stretch to prevail, 85-81, in a week 3 game of the Liga Pilipinas Tour elimination phase here.

The Red Oilers controlled the match most of the way, but needed three crucial free throws by Joel Canizares in the final 14 seconds to put away the never-say die Barakos and notch their second straight wins in less than 24 hours.

On Thursday, the Oilers turned back the Taguig Batang Global, 77-70, to bounce back from a 16-point blowout loss to fancied Pampanga Buddies in the Taguig leg opener of the newest regional cage tournament in the country.

In the second game, the Pampanga Buddies rode on the 12 fourth quarter points of Kiel Misa to subdue the Taguig Batang City Global, 83-79.

The win clinched for the Smart-sponsored Buddies the top seeding in the semifinals of the Taguig leg which will be played Saturday also at the CP Tinga gym.
