CEBU CITY—Panama’s Rafael Concepcion vowed to knock out AJ “Bazooka” Banal when they clash on Saturday for the World Boxing Association interim super flyweight championship at the New Cebu Coliseum.

The two fighters met for the first time Thursday during the final press conference put up by the ALA Promotions at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.

Also present were Golden Boy Promotions vice-president Eric Gomez, WBO Asia Pacific chair Leon Panoncillo, international matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz, Michael Aldeguer of ALA Promotions, Cebu City Councilor Sylvan “Jack” Jakosalem and Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri-Lim.

The 19-year-old Banal said he would do his talking on the ring.

Concepcion is hoping to become the third Panamanian to win a WBA title in the country.

Meanwhile, GBP vice-president Eric Gomez announced that the promotional firm was already assured by sportsman Antonio L. Aldeguer that Banal would sign up with the LA-based outfit.

The official weigh-in is scheduled at 11 a.m. on Friday at the atrium of SM City in Cebu. The first bout starts at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
