Games Sunday (Araneta Coliseum)
4:30 p.m. ? Barangay Ginebra vs Red Bull
6:50 p.m. ? Air21 vs Magnolia
ANTIPOLO CITY, Philippines ? After being pushed to the limit for the first time in this series of the Philippine Basketball Association, the Barangay Ginebra team?s coach Jong Uichico talked with a lot of urgency, which was quite strange for someone who has all the reasons to take it easy.
?Now that we are here, we want to get this over with as soon as possible,? Uichico said moments after his Gin Kings slipped past the Red Bull Barako, 94-91, for a best-of-seven semifinal series at the Ynares Center here.
It was the first time in the series that the game was decided in the final minute after Ginebra blew the Barako off the court in the series-opener and then scored a masterful 111-104 Game 2 conquest on Wednesday.
?We know the character of that team (Red Bull) and we know that they would not just give us the game on Sunday,? added Uichico, gunning for a second Finals stint with this franchise.
?Our mentality should be that there is no tomorrow for us every time we play.?
Jay-Jay Helterbrand made his first four triple tries and finished with 20 points and Chris Alexander started out slow but ended up dominating Adam Parada when it mattered as the Gin Kings moved within another win of sweeping the Barako.
Game 4 is set for Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Alexander scored seven of his points inside the final 3:35, including a rim-rattling tomahawk jam that finished off a 3-on-2 break, giving the Kings a 93-86 lead with 1:13 left.
Meanwhile, Air21 coach Bo Perasol?s gamble on Arwind Santos paid off in the end as the Express repeated over the Magnolia Beverage Masters with an 82-78 victory to take a 2-1 lead in the other semifinal pairing.
