MANILA, Philippines—Several names have cropped up as possible replacement for commissioner Ambrosio de Luna who is reportedly on the way out in what is described as “a silent overhaul” of the Philippine Sports Commission.
Two days before the Beijing Olympics starts, PSC sources bared that De Luna would be the second commissioner to be replaced in less than two weeks.
Commissioner Jose Mundo was replaced by former Olympian Akiko Thomson after at least three years in service last week.
Among those mentioned as possible replacement are former Makati councilor Nemesio “King” Yabut Jr., former Manila Sports Council chair Ali Atienza, former PSC commissioner Ray Roquero, former senator Freddie Webb, former commissioner Eli Bontigao, baseball and softball legend Boy Codińera and mediaman Fred Lumba.
De Luna was tasked to run after the receivables of the PSC from different agencies mandated by law to contribute to the PSC coffers. Marc Anthony Reyes
