MANILA, Philippines—Iranian brawler Razi Jabbari seeks payback against middleweight champion Adrian Hillana Friday night in one of two title matches in the mixed martial arts card dubbed Intensity 8 of the Fearless Fighting Championship at the newly constructed Ynares Center in Pasig City.
The fight is a rematch of their collision last year when the 21-year-old Hillana, who hails from Talisay City, Negros Occidental, scored a quick knockout win over Jabbari.
“I was overconfident in our last fight but I’m more ready this time,” said the 24-year-old Jabbari, a student at the University of the East, who claims to be undefeated this year and has gone 6-1 after losing to Hillana.
“He (Hillana) is a good fighter. But I have nothing to lose against him,” the Iranian added.
Unbeaten in three MMA fights, Hillana, who is coming off a stoppage win over Angelo Lazarito in April, easily made the 169-lb limit along with Jabbari during Thursday’s weigh-in supervised by the Games and Amusements Board.
A total of 13 fights, including the lightweight championship between Baguio’s Joel Amurao and Arie Zarco, are scheduled for the event that starts at 7 p.m.
“This is the best fight card put up by the FFC,” FFC president Alex Lopez said. The octagon similar to the Ultimate Fighting Championship in the United States is being used in the FFC, he added.
