Adamson official threatens to sue Ogie Narvasa

MANILA, Philippines—The manager of Adamson University’s senior basketball team Wednesday threatened to file charges of oral defamation and slander against UAAP deputy commissioner Gregorio “Ogie” Narvasa.

But Romeo “Don” Lerit Jr. said he is willing to wait for a public apology from the younger brother of UAAP commissioner Chito Narvasa and the action on his complaint filed with the UAAP board.

Lerit accused the young Narvasa of allegedly “berating and humiliating” him after the Falcons’ game on Sunday against the De La Salle University Archers at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

“We will wait for the investigation and formal reply from the UAAP Board on our complaint, before filing any case,” said Lerit, who was with legal counsel Anselmo Adriano Wednesday.

The 32-year-old Lerit, a cargo handling executive, read his complaint letter to UAAP president Sergio Cao that detailed Sunday’s incident during a press conference in Manila.

“The entire team is solidly behind Mr. Lerit,” said Adamson head coach Leo Austria, who witnessed the incident.
