Red-hot Light Bombers face Staglets

MANILA, Philippines—The spotlight will be on Keith Agovida of Jose Rizal University when the Light Bombers take on the unbeaten San Sebastian Staglets on Monday at the end of the double-round elimination of the NCAA juniors basketball tournament at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

The noontime clash will be Agovida’s first game since he sizzled with an NCAA record 82 points in the JRU’s 127-49 demolition of Mapua Institute of Technology last Friday.

How he measures up against a talented San Sebastian crew will also determine whether the Light Bombers can snap the Staglets’ 13-game winning streak and deny them outright entry in the finals.

Agovida, who scored 20 in an 89-65 loss to San Sebastian in the first round, will have his hands full against the likes of Arvie Bringas, Joseph Cusi and Almond Vosotros.

The three-time champs Staglets are coming off a 60-43 victory over San Beda College Wednesday.

College of St. Benilde-La Salle Green Hills tries to avoid a playoff for the last Final Four berth when it clashes with San Beda at 2 p.m.

The Junior Blazers tote a 6-5 record, ahead of the Cubs (5-6).
