Informatics International College rallied past five-time champion University of Manila, 84-82, to clinch the last berth to the next round of the 8th NAASCU men’s basketball tournament at New Era University gym in Quezon City.
The Informatics Icons overhauled a seven-point deficit in the final period en route to their fifth win in 11 games.
Fil Deximo topscored with 18 points, while Erick Acuna added 15 for the Icons.
Onofre Napiza had 19 points and Russel Asuncion chipped in 15 for the University of Manila Hawks, who have already qualified to the next round with a 7-4 slate.
In the other game, New Era got 23 points from Mel Pepito to roll past Holy Angel University, 77-68.
The New Era Hunters also finished with a 7-4 card.
Meanwhile, the University of Manila Hawklets nipped AMA Computer University, 95-94, to remain on track for a seventh crown.
