MANILA, Philippines—Don Bosco Technical College outlasted San Beda-Alabang, 90-86, in a battle between unbeaten teams to grab the top spot in the NCAA South basketball tournament at the SBC-A gym.
Don Bosco now paces the nine-team field with a 3-0 slate while SBCA dropped to second place at 3-1.
In previous matches, Don Bosco dumped Letran-Calamba, 86-70, and Philippine Christian University-Dasmarińas, 76-65.
The top two teams in the NCAA-South will advance to the zonal championships of the Smart-PLDT Champions League. No NCAA-South team has advanced to the “Sweet 16” finals in previous stagings of the country’s nationwide collegiate basketball tournament.
Trailing DBTC and SBCA are Lyceum-Batangas, 2-1; University of Perpetual Help-Laguna, 2-2; De La Salle Lipa, 1-1; First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities, 1-1; PCU-Dasmarińas, 1-2; Letran-Calamba, 0-2; and San Pablo Colleges 0-3.
