DOHA, Qatar?San Miguel Beer was never in trouble on Friday night (Saturday morning in Manila) as it dumped local Qatar squad Al Sadd, 62-33, with all 11 Beermen scoring at least a basket at the Al Gharafa Sports Club gym here.

The Beermen trailed only once at 0-2 when Al Sadd?s Haywood sank the first basket. Dondon Hontiveros and Mike Cortez then racked up seven straight points to give San Miguel the lead for good.

Jonas Villanueva started the second period with a triple and a jumper for the Beermen?s first double-digit spread, 21-10.

?We?re very happy that we won,? said team captain Olsen Racela, whose entry in the final 1:04 of the third period had the fans up on their feet. ?This is like our homecourt. We came here not only to prepare for the coming PBA season but to make the fans happy.?

In the first game, Egypt National team edged Qatar National team, 79-76. Saturday night?s (Sunday morning in Manila) lone match pits San Miguel against Egypt. The Beermen lost to Qatar on Friday night, 71-62.

Al Sadd was allowed just two points in the third period, which also saw the hosts? defense turn rough. Wesley Gonzales, who topscored with nine points, and Hontiveros had to be restrained from confronting their defenders.

Unlike opening night Thursday when security personnel forcefully separated the Beermen from the fans, Filipinos were allowed to troop to the court after the match.

Very pleased with the crowd turnout, Rashid Al-Abdulla, general manager of the Qatar Basketball Federation, has already instructed his staff to invite another Philippine ballclub.

The scores:

SAN MIGUEL 62?Gonzales 9, Villanueva 8, Custodio 8, Bono 8, Hontiveros 7, Pena 6, Cortez 4, Washington 4, Seigle 4, Racela 2, Calaguio 2.

AL SADD 33?Haywood 17, Sameer 8, Hassan 4, Nasser 2, Gabriel 2, Mohammed 2, Nabil 0, Hasan A. 0.

Quarters: 16-10; 33-22; 42-64; 62-33
