MANILA, Philippines—AMA Computer Learning Center moved one step closer of claiming a spot in the Smart-PLDT 2008 Philippine Collegiate Championship League after nipping Eastern Visayas State U in the Region 6 finals at the Ormoc City Superdome.
With the victory, the Titans clinched a place in the PCCL zonal tournament together with NCAA third placer Letran, Region 5 champion BIT International College, the runner-up of the Cesafi and a wildcard entry.
The top two in the zonal championships will join the elite group in the FilOil Flying V "Sweet 16" Final Challenge in Manila.
The Titans, the reigning Ormoc champions, crushed the St. Paul Business School Angels, 88-57, to set up a title showdown with the Hawks, who subdued the Western Leyte College Mustangs, 66-60.
Already assured of berths in the zonal championships, University of Visayas and University of San Jose-Recoletos start their best-of-five title series for the Cesafi crown this weekend in Cebu.
