MANILA, Philippines?Philippine Navy registered the league?s fastest goal but needed the late heroics of a substitute in a 2-1 win over University of the Philippines in the third NCRFA-Terry Razon Copa Filipina at the Ateneo pitch recently.

Substitute Nicholas Leonora headed home Richard Leyble?s free kick in the 88th minute for the marginal goal that lifted Navy to second place behind Philippine Air Force.

Navy got off to a flying start as Michael Fernandez broke the ice right in the first minute of the contest, the fastest goal in the history of the tournament.

But the Maroons battled back with Allen Serna equalizing five minutes before halftime on a diving header from an indirect free kick by teammate Andrei Mercader.

The loss dropped State U to eighth in the standings.

In other matches, University of Santo Tomas drubbed Mapua, 4-2, while La Salle shut out Ateneo, 3-0. University of the East held powerhouse Far Eastern U to a 1-all stalemate.
