MANILA, Philippines—Philip Jofer Escueta and Ariel Magnaye took home two championships each to top the Toby’s-Dunlop Youth Badminton Championships Friday at the Atrium A of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

Escueta downed Ivan Angsico, 21-10, 21-4, to clinch the boys’ 16-under crown. He returned a few hours later to turn back John Gregg Paz, 21-12, 21-6, and add the boys’ under-18 to his haul.

“My hard work paid off today,” said Escueta, last year’s boys’ 14-under winner over Lance Erickson Bautista.

Magnaye and partner Gian Carlo Manuel dispatched Patrick Natividad and Charlo Tengco, 21-8, 21-14, in the boy’s 16-under doubles finals.

Magnaye then paired with brother Kiko in repulsing the pair of Randolf Balatbat and Ramon Dalo, 21-15, 21-19, for the boy’s 18-under doubles crown.

Colegio Monterie de Pila-Laguna, meanwhile, bested Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Laguna, 3-0, to secure the overall championship in the high school boys team Tie division.

The annual event is presented by INQUIRER.net, Toby’s Sports and Dunlop and supported by Solar Sports, CS Sports, Thermos, Slazenger, Gold’s Gym, Gerflor Taraflex, Hershey’s Chocolates, SM Megamall, West Drive Badminton Center, Yellow Cub, Crumpler Bags, Equippe, Kontrol USA, Burlington Socks, Action and Fitness Magazine, Wave 89.1 and Mellow 94.7.
