British boxing scribe belittles Pacquiao

MANILA, Philippines—Veteran trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. isn’t alone in his opinion that Ricky Hatton will pound Manny Pacquiao into submission in their May 2 light welterweight showdown in Las Vegas.

Noted British boxing writer Geoff “The Professor” Poundes of the ringsidereport.com joined Mexican great Erik Morales in belittling the Filipino hero’s chances against the “British Hitman.”

“Hatton will win inside the distance in a fight that may not even be close, if the Hitman turns up fit, healthy and ready for action,” he said.

Poundes went even further to say “Pacquiao is going to get his ass whipped by Ricky Hatton.”

“Hatton is demonstrably comfortable, and powerful, at 140, which is where the fight will be made, and he has never been close to being beaten at that weight,” he said.

“I say it giving full respect to Manny Pacquiao’s speed, agility and guile—having given the same respect to those qualities in Paulie Malignaggi, (whom Hatton defeated by knockout last November).” Cedelf P. Tupas
