MANILA, Philippines? For Floyd Mayweather Sr., Filipino sensation Manny Pacquiao faces certain defeat against British icon Ricky Hatton when they tangle on May 2 in Las Vegas.
The colorful American trainer even guaranteed a knockout win for Hatton, especially if Pacquiao decides to engage the popular Mancunian fighter in a brawl.
In an overseas telephone interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer on Tuesday, Mayweather, who trained Hatton for his explosive win over Paulie Malignaggi late last year, waxed poetic.
?Ricky?s going to be physically, mentally, spiritually strong,? said Mayweather from his home in Las Vegas. ?Manny Pacquiao?s chances are slim and none. If he doesn?t run, we?ll get him in one.?
Mayweather also reacted to Freddie Roach?s prediction of a knockout win for Pacquiao against Hatton by calling the Filipino?s trainer ?Joke Coach Roach?.
?Ricky will either knock him (Pacquiao) out or give him a terrible ass whoopin?. More than likely Ricky?s gonna knock him out. So all Manny can do is run but even if he runs he won?t win.?
Though Mayweather reiterated he?s not taking anything away from Pacquiao in his latest win over Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya, he claimed the win was not enough to ensure another smashing victory for the Filipino four-division world champion.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times reported that Hatton has signed the fight contract, making his duel with Pacquiao officially on at the MGM Grand. Dennis Principe, contributor
