MANILA, Philippines?Putting their Olympic debacle behind them, Tshomlee Go and Toni Rivero try to gain berths in the national pool when they lead about 800 jins in the Smart-Petron Carlos Palanca Jr. taekwondo championships on Feb. 8 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Go and Rivero, who were both eliminated in their first preliminary fight during the Beijing Games last year, are seeking slots in the RP team that will see action in the World Championships and in the Laos Southeast Asian Games.
Participants will compete in the sparring and poomsae (form) events in five divisions?individual men and women, team men and women and pair.
Tournament chief Sung Chon Hong said a poomsae squad will be sent to the world championships. Romina S. Austria
