MANILA, Philippines?The Arena in San Juan City has been officially renamed as the Filoil Flying V Arena, after the city government and the oil firm reached a deal that will run for five years.
The venue is the home of the Shakey?s V-League and has hosted UAAP, NCAA and Collegiate Champions League basketball matches, as well as PBA and PBL games.
The unveiling of the new name is set on April 18, when the Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Manuel V. Pangilinan Cup, a tournament among the country?s best collegiate squads, opens at the venue.
Under the agreement signed Monday, the oil firm will have naming rights to the venue for the next five years.
San Juan Mayor Joseph Victor ?JV? Ejercito said the change in name will help generate extra revenue for the city.
