Rivera, Del Rosario pace tenpin Open

MANILA, Philippines - Former World Masters champion Biboy Rivera rolled another three-game series of 728 Wednesday night for a six-game total of 1,388 pinfalls to overtake national teammate Chester King for the lead in the Class O men?s Masters qualifying at the 38th Philippine International Open tenpin championships.

Rivera, who ruled this event in 2006, the same year he won the World Masters title, fired lines of 249, 244 and 235 to forge ahead of King by eight pins.

Paulo Valdez slipped to third place with 1,352.

Multititled RP kegler Liza del Rosario continued her reign in the women?s Masters with 1,304 with national teammates Apple Posadas (1243) and Kim Lao (1184) taking second and third, respectively, in the event at the Paeng?s Midtown Bowl in Malate, Manila.

Meanwhile, AMBA?s Ramil Cisneros tallied 1,279 to lead the men?s graded masters qualifying, ahead of BALP-UPHS? Ricky Punzalan (1,208) and MBA?s William Monodero (1,194).

Youth bowler Ann Marie Kiac of PBAP-Bowlmart (1,108) took the helm in the women?s side.
