MANILA, Philippines - Marlou Aquino is now off the hook, and the Philippine Basketball Association as well.
Jitesh Gidwani, the Filipino-Indian fan allegedly attacked by the Sta. Lucia center and some of the team?s supporters, dropped by the league?s offices Thursday and promised not to pursue a case against Aquino and the PBA.
Gidwani, who talked with some members of the league?s board led by chair Joaqui Trillo, filed charges last week after an alleged attack by Aquino and his group shortly after the Realtors lost to Burger King in Game 2 of their quarterfinal series in the Fiesta Cup.
After meeting the league?s top officials, Gidwani assured them that he will no longer contest the P20,000 fine that commissioner Sonny Barrios slapped on Aquino.
Trillo said a lesson was learned from the incident and promised to adopt guidelines to prevent the occurence of similar incidents.
