MANILA, Philippines ? Send a ?Dream Team.?
Philippine Sports Commission chair Harry Angping suggested this Friday to solve the conflicting choices of Southeast Asian Games athletes by the leadership-wracked national sports associations in billiards and cycling.
?That?s the solution that I can see, because you can?t just consider one group and ignore the other, which may also have strong chances for winning gold medals,? said Angping, whose agency funds the athletes? participation in the SEA Games.
The PSC chief said when the NSAs arrive in Laos on Dec. 9 to 18, ?they must set aside their differences and compete under one banner.?
?All of us should be Team Philippines when we get to the SEA Games,? he said. ?After that they can resume their dispute and settle their differences.?
He said he will call all the billiards players and cyclists so he can explain to them his idea.
?I think this time I should go straight to the athletes,? he said.
Angping said the final lineups for both cycling and billiards will depend on the recommendation of the PSC committee monitoring the performances of the athletes.
