REACTING TO THE THREAT of a brewing typhoon, Manny Pacquiao cut short his training camp in Baguio City and headed for Manila early Monday.

After a few hours? rest, Pacquiao went to the Gerry Peñalosa Boxing Gym at Marketmall in Mandaluyong City and resumed training for his World Boxing Organization welterweight showdown against champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico on Nov. 14 in Las Vegas.

Assistant trainer Nonoy Neri said Pacquiao did 13 rounds with the mitts and three rounds each shadow boxing and pummeling the heavy bags and speed balls.

To cap his workout supervised by chief trainer Freddie Roach, Pacquiao went through two sets of plyometric exercises designed by conditioning expert Alex Ariza.

The world pound-for-pound king then visited his commercial building in Quiapo, Manila, before calling it a day.

Training will again hit full blast Tuesday with Pacquiao expected to spar for three rounds each with unbeaten welterweight Shawn Porter, former world champion Jose Luis Castillo and either Urbano Antillon or Danny Escobar.

Team Pacquiao stayed in Baguio, one of several areas devastated by the recent Typhoon ?Pepeng?, since Sept. 20.

Pacquiao was even able to sneak in a visit to Manila on Oct. 3 to distribute relief goods and hand over his P1 million donation to flood victims of Tropical Storm ?Ondoy?.

Roach, however, doesn?t want to take chances with Typhoon ?Ramil? due for a landfall eas early as tomorrow night.

Pacquiao is slated to leave for Los Angeles on Oct. 24 to continue his preparations at Roach?s Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.
