Archers complete PCCL ‘Sweet 16’ cast

MANILA, Philippines?De La Salle University crushed University of Nueva Caceres, 91-38, Saturday night to complete the ?Sweet 16? cast in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League at the UNC Gym in Naga City.

Joshua Webb scored 18 points and Arvie Bringas chipped in 10 as the Green Archers booked a return ticket to the national finals, where they are the defending champions.

The victory capped a three-game sweep of the Metro Manila-South Luzon-Bicol zonals by the Archers, who also prevailed over St. Francis of Assisi College, 52-42, and Don Bosco, 98-44.

La Salle is the fifth UAAP team in the national finals of the tournament backed by Smart Communications Inc. and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.

UAAP champion Ateneo de Manila University and NCAA titlist San Sebastian College will go into the tournament starting on Nov. 23 as the top seeds.

Rounding out the ?Sweet 16? are University of the East, Far Eastern University, University of Santo Tomas, San Beda College, Jose Rizal University, Letran College, University of Visayas, University of Cebu, San Sebastian Cavite, Arellano University, Mapua Institute of Technology, University of San Carlos and University of Manila.
