DETHRONED MEXICAN LIGHT FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION EDGAR SOSA plans to file a formal protest with the World Boxing Council over his defeat to Filipino Rodel Mayol on Sunday in Chiapas, Mexico.

Mayol scored a second-round TKO of the man who was making the 11th defense of the title he won over Fil-Am Brian Viloria. Reports said Sosa?s protest will center on the clash of heads in the second round.
