HOLLYWOOD?Quick and light.
That?s how pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao and Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach wrapped up their training camp at the Wild Card Gym Tuesday afternoon.
Convinced that his prized ward is fit and ready to do battle against Ghanaian Joshua Clottey on March 13, Roach cut short Pacquiao?s already light training for the day.
From four rounds, he reduced Pacquiao?s sparring session with Raymundo Beltran and the mitts training to three.
Eager to leave for Dallas, Texas, Pacquiao also eased up on the double-edged bag, speed bag and heavy bags.
Roach said as early as last week that his boxer had reached peak form for his title defense.
He predicted a Pacquiao victory by knockout in the sixth or seventh rounds, a taunt that made Clottey furious, according to Internet and newspaper reports.
Roach said his confidence is boosted by the fact that he won all five fights he handled in Texas, two of them courtesy of Pacquiao in 2003 and 2007.
The trainer is also pleased with the way Pacquiao has whipped himself into perfect shape in less than seven weeks, in the Filipino?s shortest camp in his last five fights?against Juan Manuel Marquez, David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto.
