Falcons claw Bulldogs for 11th baseball title

ADAMSON clipped National University, 10-5, Friday to pocket its third straight baseball title and 11th overall in the 72nd UAAP tournament Thursday at the Rizal Memorial ballpark.

The Falcons leaned on solid performances from pitcher Romeo Jasmin and Marvin Malig to sweep the rookie-laden Bulldogs in their best-of-three finals series. Adamson posted a 3-1 victory in Game 1 last Saturday.

Jasmin, the standout from Nueva Ecija, who had a perfect game through seven innings in Game 1 last Saturday, gave up five runs off 10 hits this time. He also had four strikeouts in a no-relief effort.

?This is our most difficult championship,? said Adamson coach Orlando Binarao, whose squad won the title last year via a 10-game sweep. ?We lost twice in the elimination round and almost all our games were very close.?

The victory allowed the Falcons to move into a tie for third with University of the Philippines for most leagues titles, behind Santo Tomas with 23 crowns and Far Eastern U with 13.
