Cebu interzonal qualifiers of pccl starts today

Cebu Daily News

Games today:

Cebu Coliseum

5:30 p.m. – USJ-R vs. San Sebastian-Cavite

7 p.m. – UC vs. Adamson

TWO SISTER SQUADS will be battling one another while a prodigal son returns to face his former team when the interzonal qualifiers of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) kicks off today at the Cebu Coliseum.

CESAFI runners-up University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters will open their bid for redemption when they face former UC Baby Webmaster star Jan Colina and the rest of the Adamson Falcons. The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars, on the other hand, will be taking on sister squad and two-time NAASCU champions San Sebastian College-Recoletos Cavite Baycats.

The four teams are in pursuit of two slots to the Sweet 16 stage of the PCCL which will open at the Ynares Center in Pasig City on Nov. 23. The top two finishers of the tournament will gain the slots.

6-foot-10 giant and Cesafi co-MVP June Mar Fajardo will once again take center stage as he battles the vastly-improved Colina, who once played for UC in the juniors competition before being taken by Adamson in the college level.

USJ-R, which finished fourth in the Cesafi tournament, is expected to have a tough time against the Baycats, which captured their second straight Naascu title against five-time champions University of Manila.
