ABS-CBN pool tilt starts

Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines — The island-hopping Manny Villar Cup billiards series returns with a media tournament that breaks Saturday at the Trade Hall of Starmall Edsa-Shaw in Mandaluyong City.

Employees of the ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs will be under the spotlight in the event.

A total of P50,000 in cash prizes and the special Villards trophy are at stake in the tournament also backed by Camella Communities.

Joining Villar during the opening ceremonies are reigning World Cup of Pool champions and billiards icons Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante.

The two legends will later spice up the event by playing an exhibition match.

Meanwhile, the country’s top cue artists are asking Villar to be the team manager of the national pool squad to the 25th Southeast Asian Games in Laos.

“Our national players want Sen. Manny to be part of the team,” said Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines chief Vic Rodriguez. George Lizares, Contributor
