‘Gorres left side may need rehab’

Cebu Daily News

BOXER Z ?The Dream? Gorres may not live a normal life immediately since he has to undergo therapy.

But he has a good chance to live a functional life, said ALA Promotions President Michael Aldeguer in an e-mail sent on yesterday afternoon.

?Z has a good chance to live a functional life not necessarily yet a normal life for now because he may need to rehabilitate his left side which may need time,? Michael said.

But he said Gorres was no longer in critical condition, although his condition remained serious.

Michael's father, Antonio Aldeguer, chairman of ALA Promotions, said he did not know why Gorres' left side needed rehabilitation.

He said he had yet to talk to his son, who was attending to Gorres in the US hospital.

?But I'm sure after the rehabilitation, Gorres will have a normal life,? Antonio said.

He, however, said Gorres could no longer fight in the ring.

He said Gorres would not be given a license by any boxing commission to fight because he had undergone a brain surgery to remove a blood clot.

Antonio said that if Gorres would insist to fight again, he would just be seeking for his death.

Michael, in his email said the doctors may get him off the ventilator in the next 48 hours.

?He has also reacted to certain commands though not yet consistent. According to Dr. (Michael) Casey the progress of Z is remarkable and is normally seen in two weeks but because Z is young and in great health he responded well in only 5 days,? Michael said.
